Hosted by Stories of a Colorful World and Kente Cones, this FREE community event honors Black children, Black stories, and the cultural legacy of Black authors and illustrators who make representation possible.

Black Children’s Book Week is a global celebration uplifting Black children and the people committed to ensuring they see themselves reflected in books and media. This event is intentionally designed to bring families together around literacy, culture, and joy—no trauma, just celebration.

Come enjoy a cozy, welcoming afternoon filled with:
✨ Live storytime featuring diverse, affirming books
✨ FREE books for children (while supplies last)
✨ Delicious ice cream from Kente Cones
✨ Holiday games and hands-on activities
✨ Music, community connection, and joyful Black literacy vibes

Families will experience engaging storytimes, meaningful community connection, and playful activities that celebrate Black culture and early childhood literacy. Whether you’re a longtime book lover or just beginning your reading journey, this is a space created with Black children—and their joy—at the center.

All are welcome. Bring the kids, bring a friend, and come celebrate Black stories with us!
