Max Learns to be a Gentleman

Category: Tag:

Max can swing high and run fast. But what does it mean to be a gentleman?

When Max sees his dad pull out a chair for his mom, he begins to notice the thoughtful things people do for one another. With his parents’ gentle encouragement, he discovers that being a gentleman starts with kindness, good manners, and thinking about others.

From helping his sister carry a heavy toy box to offering his seat to a woman holding a baby, Max finds small ways to show he cares. Soon, he’s encouraging another boy to be thoughtful, too.

Max Learns to Be a Gentleman is a picture book about kindness, respect, and learning by example. Featuring a Black boy and his family, it gives young readers familiar moments to talk about and thoughtful actions to try themselves.
