Brown Baby, Beautiful Child: A Baby Poem and Journal

Children are a gift from God. The pregnancy journey is beautiful. Research has shown that there are numerous benefits to reading to babies in the womb. Reading to babies in the womb improves the baby’s brain development, allows the baby to become familiar with your voice, and stimulates the baby’s senses. A residual benefit to the parent is that reading to babies in the womb has a calming effect on the parent. Because of the inequities in education for children of color, reading is so important, and reading in the womb is even more vital. This book is designed to empower and speak life to brown babies and children of color so they enter this world with confidence and pride and are better equipped to achieve great success in life. The second half of the book contains a journal for parents to write their pregnancy story to later read to their child as they grow. There are no prompts because the journal should be the events, memories and milestones that the parent wants to write. So be free to write a beautiful story for your brown baby.
